Chef Manager – Galway
The Chef Manager is responsible for leading and managing all kitchen operations, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality food while maintaining exceptional food safety, hygiene, financial performance, and team leadership standards. The Chef Manager will oversee menu planning, stock control, staffing, budgeting, and compliance while creating an outstanding dining experience for customers.
Key Responsibilities
· The Chef Manager will oversee the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, ensuring efficient service and high-quality food production.
· The Chef Manager will lead, motivate, train, and develop the kitchen team to achieve exceptional performance.
· The Chef Manager will plan, prepare, and implement seasonal menus, daily specials, and promotional offerings.
· The Chef Manager will ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standards of quality and consistency.
· The Chef Manager will manage food purchasing, supplier relationships, stock control, and inventory management.
· The Chef Manager will control food costs, labour costs, and kitchen expenditure while meeting budget targets.
· The Chef Manager will monitor portion control and minimise food waste to maximise profitability.
· The Chef Manager will ensure full compliance with HACCP, Irish food safety legislation, and company policies.
· The Chef Manager will maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food hygiene throughout the kitchen.
· The Chef Manager will prepare staff rotas and manage labour requirements in line with business needs.
· The Chef Manager will conduct regular team briefings, performance reviews, and ongoing staff training.
· The Chef Manager will manage recruitment, induction, and development of kitchen staff.
· The Chef Manager will ensure all food allergens are correctly managed and communicated.
· The Chef Manager will work closely with front-of-house management to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
· The Chef Manager will respond professionally to customer feedback and implement continuous improvements.
· The Chef Manager will ensure all equipment is maintained and report maintenance issues promptly.
· The Chef Manager will monitor kitchen performance through KPIs and operational reporting.
· The Chef Manager will ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and conduct regular risk assessments.
· The Chef Manager will support senior management in achieving operational and financial objectives.
Essential Requirements
· Previous experience as a Chef Manager, Head Chef, Executive Chef, or Senior Sous Chef.
· Strong leadership and people management skills.
· Excellent knowledge of HACCP and Irish food safety legislation.
· Proven experience managing kitchen budgets and food cost controls.
· Experience in menu planning and food innovation.
· Excellent organisational and time management skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
· Commercial awareness with strong financial acumen.
· Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays where required.
· Full eligibility to work in Ireland.
Desirable Requirements
· Professional culinary qualification.
· HACCP Level 3 (or equivalent) certification.
· Manual Handling certification.
· Experience using kitchen management or stock control systems.
· Experience within hotels, healthcare, education, contract catering, or high-volume hospitality operations.
