Financial Controller required for Hotel

Financial Controller required to join the management team for a well established Hotel. As a senior finance team member on property, you will take full responsibility for the reporting on and performance of the hotel, and will work closely with the General Manager and Heads of Department to drive both revenue performance and cost management in order to maximise hotel profitability.  You will also take full ownership of the financial control environment in the hotel

The Role

  • Managing a small team
  • Supporting the General Manager to driving growth of the business
  • Take ownership for all aspects of the financial reporting (bringing to plc standards), management reporting (occupancy levels, margin reporting), financial control, working capital management, budgeting and forecasting
  • Preparation of monthly reporting pack, and presentation of results to Private Equity parent company
  • Attending, and participating at Board meetings
  • Ad-hoc projects will be ongoing
  • Management of the finance function and team duties, on a day to day basis
  • Overall responsibility for the preparation of the monthly management reporting pack, including analysis of and commentary on performance
  • Annual Budgeting & weekly forecasting, partnering with general manager/heads of department to deliver budgets and forecasts that are both accurate and timely
  • Participation at quarterly business reviews with the CEO, CFO and hotel management team
  • Take full ownership for the proper operation of the financial control environment at hotel level, including cash handling, accounts payable and receivable, purchasing, and stock control.
  • Support to the finance team, encouraging professional development
  • Ensure Heads of Department are supported to undertake budget and forecast monitoring as part of the financial control framework

 

The Candidate

 

  • Successful candidate will be a qualified Accountant with prior Finance Manager/ Financial Controller experience in the hotel-sector, with strong financial reporting skills, a strong commercial acumen, and leadership skills
  • Qualified Accountant with c. 2 – 3 years PQE, ideally within a fast paced and innovative environment
  • Prior experience in a hotel environment is required
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and multi task, working to tight deadlines
  • Committed to proactively improving the quality and standards of the areas under supervision
  • Flexible attitude and approach to work
  • Must be logical and very organised
  • Role could suit an Assistant Financial Controller who is looking to step into their first Financial Controllers role
