Ireland is officially open for business, with the announcement that 1,518 companies were started last month, higher than any other July figures since 2007. Unsurprisingly Dublin was the choice of location for the majority of the start up companies, but Cork (8%) Limerick (4%) also proved popular locations.

With Ireland becoming home to 49 new companies each day, the professional services sector saw the most growth, accounting for 22% of new company formation, followed by the wholesale/retail segment with 10%, and construction start-ups at 9%.
