Senior Chef Job Description

The Senior Chef is responsible for supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day management of the kitchen, ensuring the delivery of exceptional food quality, operational efficiency, and outstanding guest satisfaction. The role involves leading the kitchen team during service, maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene, and assisting with menu planning, stock control and staff development.

Key Responsibilities

• The Senior Chef will support the Head Chef with the daily operation of the kitchen.

• The Senior Chef will prepare, cook and present high-quality dishes in line with company standards.

• The Senior Chef will supervise and lead the kitchen team during service, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

• The Senior Chef will ensure all food is prepared consistently in accordance with recipes, portion controls and presentation standards.

• The Senior Chef will monitor food quality, freshness and stock rotation.

• The Senior Chef will ensure compliance with HACCP procedures and all Irish food safety legislation.

• The Senior Chef will assist with menu planning, seasonal menu development and daily specials.

• The Senior Chef will support stock ordering, stock control and minimise food waste to achieve gross profit targets.

• The Senior Chef will assist with kitchen rotas and staff scheduling where required.

• The Senior Chef will mentor, train and develop junior chefs, kitchen porters and apprentices.

• The Senior Chef will ensure allergen procedures and dietary requirements are adhered to at all times.

• The Senior Chef will maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and food storage areas.

• The Senior Chef will monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance requirements promptly.
