Sous Chef – 4 Star Hotel – Kilkenny
Salary: €42,000 – 45,000

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join the kitchen brigade of a leading 4-star hotel in Kilkenny. Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll be a key figure in maintaining high culinary standards and smooth kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Head Chef on food prep, plating, and kitchen management

• Oversee daily operations, ensuring food quality and hygiene standards are consistently met

• Lead and support the kitchen team, assist in training and shift scheduling

• Contribute to menu development and bring creative flair to dishes

• Monitor stock levels and support with ordering and supplier coordination

• Ensure food safety and kitchen cleanliness to the highest standards

• Troubleshoot issues and maintain kitchen equipment

Ideal Candidate:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a busy kitchen environment

• Certified in Food Safety Level 1 & 2, and Health & Safety Level 2

• Strong knowledge of HACCP, COSHH, and manual handling procedures

• Skilled with kitchen and catering equipment, with excellent knife safety

• Calm under pressure, with strong communication and leadership qualities

• Creative, reliable, and passionate about food excellence
