One of the most important aspects of a professional career is high productivity, however, we tend to get distracted easily, how do we ensure this doesn’t happen and we’re doing things right? We have all looked up how to focus better, how to cut back or stop using social media while working, how to manage your time better…etc. If there is one thing you can take from this blog is that you are not the only one that may struggle with being productive, we have all been there at one point or another.
We have put together a list of five tips that may make life that little bit easier and help with your productivity:
1. The 3 second rule:
When you want to get something done but can feel procrastination creeping in, the 3-second rule is your best bet to avoid it. If the name hasn’t been given away, all you have to do is give yourself 3 seconds to start doing the job at hand that you’re dreading doing. By doing this, you’re not giving yourself time to overthink, and it will be easier for your brain to act.
2. The 1-3-5 rule:
This tip agrees that no one can do everything all at once. Instead, aim to get 1 large thing, 3 medium things, and 5 small things done each day. By doing so you will see your achievements, which will give you motivation to achieve more.
3. Zone out:
Do you ever feel you are aimlessly completing task after task? Well, from personal experience, we’ve found that a great soundtrack helps eliminate exterior distractions and works wonders. Get whatever it is that helps you, whether that’s music, podcast, etc. And get going.
4. The 4am club:
“The early bird catches the worm” is a very coming but true saying which implies that getting into a routine of waking up early can-do amazing things for our productivity. 4 am may seem extremely early but it gives you hours ahead of anyone else to get tasks done and out of the way, which lets you start your day on a high note. You will be ahead of the game when everyone else is still asleep.
5. Laugh it off
Laughter is the best form of medicine. If you are having fun doing something, chances are high that you’ll do it well. Loving what you do and the people you do it with makes the task 100 times better and easier.
There you have it! The top 5 tips to help to be more productive and in turn help with your overall performance and success. Here is hoping we will all dread the daily to-do list a little less after this.
