Hotel General Manager – Connacht

The Hotel General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and commercial success of the hotel, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while driving operational excellence, financial performance, and team development. The Hotel General Manager will oversee all departments, including accommodation, food and beverage, sales, finance, maintenance, and human resources, ensuring the property consistently operates to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

• The Hotel General Manager will oversee the day-to-day operation of the hotel, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction across all departments.
• The Hotel General Manager will provide strategic leadership and direction to departmental managers and their teams.
• The Hotel General Manager will develop and implement business strategies to maximise occupancy, revenue, and profitability.
• The Hotel General Manager will prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial performance targets.
• The Hotel General Manager will monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
• The Hotel General Manager will ensure consistently high standards of customer service throughout the hotel.
• The Hotel General Manager will oversee all food and beverage, accommodation, conference, leisure, and guest service operations.
• The Hotel General Manager will ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation, HACCP, employment legislation, licensing regulations, and company policies.
• The Hotel General Manager will build, develop, and mentor a high-performing management team.
• The Hotel General Manager will oversee recruitment, succession planning, employee engagement, and performance management.
• The Hotel General Manager will maintain strong relationships with key clients, suppliers, tourism organisations, and local business partners.
• The Hotel General Manager will work closely with the Sales and Marketing team to drive business development and maximise revenue opportunities.
• The Hotel General Manager will oversee capital expenditure projects, maintenance programmes, and property improvements.
• The Hotel General Manager will manage guest feedback and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the customer experience.
• The Hotel General Manager will ensure effective cost control across all operational departments.
• The Hotel General Manager will prepare regular operational and financial reports for senior leadership and ownership.
• The Hotel General Manager will ensure the hotel consistently meets brand standards and quality assurance requirements where applicable.
• The Hotel General Manager will promote a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience as a Hotel General Manager, Deputy General Manager, or Operations Manager within a hotel environment.
• Proven experience managing multi-department hotel operations.
• Strong commercial awareness with a proven ability to drive revenue and profitability.
• Experience managing budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Excellent leadership, coaching, and people management skills.
• Strong understanding of hotel operations, including Rooms Division, Food & Beverage, Sales, and Events.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, HACCP, employment legislation, and Irish hospitality regulations.
• Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
• Full eligibility to work in Ireland.

Desirable Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Business Management, or a related discipline.
• Experience managing a four or five-star hotel.
• Experience working with recognised hotel brands or hotel management groups.
• Knowledge of hotel Property Management Systems (PMS), revenue management systems, and financial reporting software.
• Experience leading hotel refurbishment or capital investment projects.
• Membership of a recognised hospitality or management organisation would be advantageous.
